Your post is amazingly timed. I made this very argument today, right down to the choice of the word burden.
Being in a rough place right now too, I made my argument in therapy...
So here's what I can offer you based on my couch visit today. :o)
Wouldn't you want a friend or family member to call you with their hurt? Would you think of it as a burden?
I could be totally wrong but you'd probably want to help. You'd probably feel good about helping, even if the only help you could offer was a listening ear.
Give someone else the chance to give that gift back to you.
Whatever you decide though, pushing it down should not be on the list.
