Cupcakes

This morning the word "cupcakes" came out of one of my friend's mouths. I'm not sure who it was anymore (Jill? Wendy?), or even what the context was, but my brain latched onto the idea of cupcakes and refused to let go. What's a girl to do? I took my kids into the kitchen and we baked cupcakes.

We made vanilla cupcakes because I wanted to fill them with cherry jam- jelly cupcakes, if you will. I thought chocolate might overpower the cherries, though next time I make raspberry jam I might try chocolate cupcakes stuffed with that. Mmmm. I gave the kids a choice of chocolate or vanilla buttercream frosting, and Liel immediately said "chocolate", so naturally Zion wanted vanilla. We made both. And no, I didn't have any cupcake papers at home. But cupcakes can't wait on a little thing like that!

Of course, now that they are available to eat, I have no interest in them. I love baking, but often find that once I've baked something I can't eat it (with, thank G-d, the exception of pie!). Blessing or curse? You decide...

Yumm. Cupcakes!!

I wish I was a baker who had no interest in eating her own foods. Unfortuneatly I'm the opposite... I can't bake and I love to eat baked goods!! :)

Um, yea so cupcakes was mentioned by me in response to Jilly saying she had to wait until closer to party time to get treats. It was my fault, but they do look yummy. You will have to let us know what the kids and R think of them. I have to say I am soooo jealous of your mixer...I want one so bad I can see it sitting on my counter already (though mine needs to be red I think). I would probably bake more if I had one....lol.

I bake and then eat everything I bake -- and I mean everything -- over the next 48 hours. This is a problem because when I bake it's always multiple dozens of something....

It *is* a wonderful mixer; I've got the same one in white. Jovi, do you have any of the attachments? Wonder how well those work. The mixer comes in every color of the rainbow, and Alton Brown (food network, host of Good EAts) has one that's got flames on it....

the cupcakes were delicious.

we have the juicer attachment, leslie. it works great. someday we'll get the meat grinder attachment. i've been promising jovi a romantic meat grinder present for years but, in the end, it makes more sense to just get the kitchenaid attachment.

finally, i think it important to point out that when i got married, it was in a nearly chocolateless universe. what the hell happened to my wife? how can pregnancy incline someone to suddenly want untasty treats?
